12th March 2013
Following a special day at Crufts on Friday, Mel has decided to retire Flyte from Flyball racing. Its always a difficult time when we have to say our dog has run its last race. The sadness of the event gives us a chance to reflect on the past glories and good times our dogs have given us.
Flyte first raced with Kiddy Monsters on 6th October 2007 at Portway. The team that day included Kiddy legends such as Spot and Chelsea they raced well finishing second in division 6. Flyte progressed to the first team during 2008 and was in our team that travelled to Belgium in 2009 finishing the 6th best team in Europe. Flyte also ran in our team that won division 21 at the BFA Championships in 2011, one of only two championship wins for Kiddy, so she is in a very elite group of dogs.
Some facts and figures on Flyte;
6th Oct 2007 - First competition
BFA Silver Award winner with 11065 points
Raced in 41 matches between 2007 and 2013
Fastest time recorded was 18.17 at Wirral on 3rd August 2008, we won the division that day as well.
Highest single points in one show 500 at Ellesmere Port on 24th Feb 2013.
I think the last month is a true reflection of Flytes contribution to our club. She retires having top scored with 500 points whilst racing in division 1. Then puts on a star performance at Crufts 2013 and being used to trailer the flyball for Channel 4. Thanks to Flyte and Mel for your contribution to the team over the last 6 years.
8th March 2013
We sent two teams to Crufts today and had some very good results. In the Team Flyball Tiegan, Casino, Mac and Flyte ran faster than expected winning one leg against Thistle Flyers losing the deciding heat by a close head. Thanks to reserves Vibe and Zee for being on standby, Laura on the box and Rob helping in the ring.
In the team agility Kidderminster qualified for the grand final coming 2nd in the semi final. Finally finishing 4th overall. Congratulations to Tiegan, Kera, Phoebe and Willow who all ran well.
In the Crufts Agility singles Tiegan ran well coming 4th in the agility round and 8th in the jumping.
A very good day all-round for Kidderminster.
21st February 2013
Congratulations to Vicki & Casino who won The Chelsea Award for 2012. The award was in recognition of the progress both Vicki and Casino made in competitions during the year. In their first season of competition they finished second highest points scorers.
17th February 2013
Kiddy Minsters travelled to Doncaster today and finished 3rd in Division 1, missing 2nd on time. All the dogs ran well as we were involved in some close racing. Congratulations to all who raced today.
14th February 2013
We sent two teams to Ellesmere Port today and both teams were racing in Division 1. This was the first time Kidderminster had run two teams in the same division. The Crufts team running as Monsters ran well all day and finished 2nd. Thye Minsters team picked up two wins to finish 4th. A very creditable performance from all involved.
20th January 2013
We sent two teams up to Doncaster today to compete at the Gap Farm BFA show. Those who braved the snow found the weather much nicer in Yorkshire and all the dogs ran well. Kiddy Minsters finished 3rd in Division 1 with Kiddy Monsters coming 5th in Division 2. During the racing Casino gained her BFA Graduate award and Maddison the Flyball Dog Award. Louis ran in his first competition for us and did very well, and Marmite gained some valuable racing experience. Once again thanks to all who braved the elements to represent Kidderminster.

It is with great sadness that I have to report that Kim owned by Roger Brown passed away on 9th January. Kim holds a special place in the history of Kiddy Monsters flyball team in that she along with Chelsea, Jodie and Buddy formed the team from the very start. Kim competed with us for two years, and achieved Intermediate level with the BFA. Our thoughts go out to Roger and Judi at this dificult time.
